Happy Birthday to my favorite celebrity whom I made it my mission to photograph as often as possible. I couldn't believe she didn't have a photographer booked for this secret fan meet-up. I was a member of her Olivia Munn Fan Group (OMFG), so I got the invite, and since we had met a few times by this point, she let me act as house photographer. 

Flashback to the moment I met Olivia the previous year at another fan meet-up event at Comic Con 2009. She gave me a big hug, and had no idea I was a pap. This was posted front and center on her website the next day!  

 I was immediately hooked.

  

One reason I had enormous respect for Olivia was because she is an outspoken advocate for animals, participating in protests, and promoting PETA with multiple "naked" billboard campaigns.

Olivia was always so sweet. She gave extra attention and genuine smiles to my lens every time I saw her, and would often single me out, say hello and wave to me in the hoard of red carpet photogs.

Here you can see the moment she spotted me in the crowd of photogs (above). Her smile lit up, and she waved to me... twice!

Olivia Munn and Emily Ratajkowski Speak Out Against Blue Origin Space Tourism

 Olivia Munn and Emily Ratajkowski have each spoken out against this week's highly publicized all female space flight on Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin rocket, which took six women, including singer Katy Perry, to the edge of space on an eleven minute flight.

Olivia was on the Today Show saying, “What are they doing? I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now. I know this is probably obnoxious, but like, it’s so much money to go to space, and there’s a lot of people who can’t even afford eggs. What’s the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it’s a bit gluttonous. Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?”

Emily Ratajkowski has been extremely vocal about this on her Tiktok:

“That space mission this morning? That’s end-times s**t. Like, this is beyond parody... That you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that is single-handedly destroying the planet? Get the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what?”

Olivia was always my favorite celebrity to photograph, because of her appreciation of nerd culture and her sense of humor, mixed with stunning beauty. A truly rare combo. I covered quite a few of her events promoting and protesting with PETA, and her book release. I was the sole photographer at a couple of her fan meet ups. She was always extremely kind and approachable, remembered me, and was supportive of my animation work. She would always be happy to see me on the streets, at LAX, or wave to me in the crowd of photogs covering a red carpet event, where she always give my lens special attention.
