Happy (belated) Birthday Ben Affleck!

I'm still trying to catch up on all of the celebrity birthdays this week. Ben's was yesterday, but I was too busy finishing my Jennifer Lawrence post.

The first time I met Ben Affleck was in April, 1997, at a special screening of 'Chasing Amy' at the Nickelodeon movie theater where I worked. I escorted him and his friend Matt Damon to the theater and hooked them up with free popcorn and soda. Since I knew him primarily from one of my favorite films, 'Dazed And Confused', I also offered to hook him up with herbal refreshment, but he declined.

I remember that they spoke after the film and told the audience that they were about to start shooting a film with Gus Van Sant in Boston, and were in need of PAs. That film was "Good Will Hunting'. I always wondered how different my life may have been if I had taken that opportunity.

Ben has always been super nice whenever I've seen him around. There was even one time when I was cruising for stories and noticed other paps shooting through the windows of a make-your-own-cake shop in West Hollywood. Inside was Ben, with Jennifer Garner and his daughters, celebrating a birthday. I expected he would be angry, but they didn't really seem upset. He did take a couple of photos of us, and looked over when we accidentally bumped our lenses into the window (guilty).

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner decorate cakes with their daughters at Duff's Cakemix in West Hollywood, on 10/28/12.

When they finished, Ben came out and politely asked us to give the family a little space when walking to the car. We obliged, and the family came out, we all got nice pics, and the kids looked totally happy and unbothered.
