Happy Birthday Jennifer Lawrence! 

Jennifer Lawrence arrives at LAX airport in Los Angeles, CA, on December 18, 2014.

 

I only seem to have two sets of pics of Jennifer Lawrence from over a decade of being a paparazzo and red carpet photog. At LAX (above), she didn't seem too thrilled nor too bothered by the cameras, but signed a few autographs before heading out to her waiting car at the curb. Nothing crazy.

 

However the other time was a couple months earlier, and was one of my worst experiences as a pap, and it still bothers me to this day having participated in it. 

 

I never even edited nor turned the following photos, because after a very long and intense night, after almost getting my ass kicked, all I had was a bunch of crooked, blurry crap that would never sell... but looking at it again, there's definitely a story there. A shameful story about the darker side if this industry.

I got a tip that Jennifer was at Ago restaurant on Melrose in West Hollywood. It's not longer there, but it was pretty common place for celebrities in the 20teens. But I rarely worked the restaurants at night... and this type of shit is why.

 

I got there at about 8:40, and immediately knew there was going to be trouble. I noticed the car of my paparazzo nemesis, a ruthless bully prick who was living proof that karma doesn't exist. He was having a drink inside, but when he came out and saw me there, he was livid, accusing me of jumping his exclusive, and threatening me. But I held my ground and refused to be intimidated. (Truth told, I called my tipper and had him 

 

After a very awkward hour, word had gotten around, and several other paps had shown up. I was waiting near the front entrance, hoping for the best, when suddenly there was movement and everyone ran around to the back door. It was a poorly lit spot on the street, so it was essentially pitch black contrasted with the intense barrage of camera flashes popping off.

 

Apparently, Jennifer had just come out the back door with her friends, but her car wasn't there yet, and the door had closed and locked behind them, so she was ambushed by the paps who had been waiting there, and was cornered. Her friends were literally trying to hold off the pap swarm as Jennifer hid her face behind her purse. 

 

  But the guys were getting very aggressive, and invading her personal space. Coming at her from all angles. I was back further in the pack, and had never seen a celebrity trapped like this. I was not about to be aggressive like that, but after the night I had, I didn't want to leave empty handed either.

 That's when the same pap who had threatened me went in close at a low angle (above) and this really pissed off Jennifer and her guardian friend, who screamed at him for trying to get upskirt pics. I'm not convinced that was his intent, but that's how they perceived it. 

 

Finally one of her friends ran around back inside through the front. She opened the back door again and Jennifer ran inside. 

 

When her car was brought around, Jennifer came out, again covering her face with her purse.

 

But as she got closer to her car, my nemesis and some of the other guys ran off to get back to their cars to follow her, so she let down her guard a little. Unfortunately I think I bumped my settings when running from the front, because all my shots were blurry and overexposed in all the chaos. A couple of paps continued to shoot through her windshield while blocking in the car, but she was merciful and didn't run them down.
