This is a great example of why 2-D photos do not do justice to the fashion on the carpet. The 3-D effect on the skirt seems a little exaggerated because she turned a bit between frames, but other than that, I love it!

Robin Williams was one of the heroes of my youth. Mork from Ork was such a huge influence in giving my generation the courage to be weird. I'm so glad I got a few shots of him the one time we crossed paths at a red carpet for 'Happy Feet Two'.

New 3-D Pics From "Dark Knight Rises" Set - Christian Bale & Anne Hathaway

Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Rises" was released on this day, July 20, 2012...

So I thought you might like to see more 3-D photos I took from the downtown Los Angeles location sets of Anne Hathaway and Christian Bale filming in costume as Catwoman and Batman and also as Selina Kile and Bruce Wayne.

These scenes in the Batman & Catwoman suits were shot in the streets and tunnels that run underneath Grand Ave in downtown L.A.. 

The road was blocked off, but I found a vantage point by cutting a hole in the wind-blocking tarp hanging on a chain link fence. Other guys with way better lenses got much better shots that day than I did, but I was still quite thrilled to get shots of Batman & Catwoman as if I was a photojornalist in Gotham City.

This was one of my craziest days in my early career as a paparazzo. Christopher Nolan was filming the third installment of his Batman franchise in downtown Los Angeles. In a rare move, the streets and sidewalks where the crew was filming were not completely blocked off. They would only lock down during the take when cameras were ready to roll. There were several paps around, endlessly circling the block, hoping to get lucky. But the crew was watching out for paps before they would call "action" and would block those they saw.

That wasn't working out for me, so I had to switch strategies.

The local businesses were open, so I went into the jewelry shop across the street from where they were filming and bribed the owner to let me sit behind the counter like I was working there... and for just $10, he let me do it for like an hour. I would keep the camera hidden until they would lock down the set, at which point all of the crew were scanning the sidewalks, looking for paps, but they never thought to look behind them and see me shooting!

I got great exclusive shots of Anne Hathaway, in character as Selina Kyle, exiting her apartment and getting into a cab. 

Then I noticed Christan Bale, (dressed as Bruce Wayne) and it looked like he spotted me, but either he didn't see me with the sun in his eyes and me in the shade of the store just like the one seen behind him in the photo, or maybe he didn't mind and didn't rat me out to the crew.

Sharon was always happy to see paparazzi, even when she was with her son, often flashing a peace sign and a smile. I wouldn't post a kid's face here under most circumstances, but she never gave us any indication that she minded us taking photos.

I love this one (above) because it reveals my brain's inner workings to me live in the moment. 

Because she is waving in only one of the photos, so her hand appears transparent in 3-D crossview. But when I look at her eyes, the hand must be in my blind spot, because it pretty much completely disappears. Does this happen for you as well?   

 

Keep in mind, these are not traditional 3-D photos, but the 3-D effect is recreated in your mind with concurrent photos when a parallax effect happens from the natural flow of movement. 

Whenever I saw AnnaLynne, on location, on the red carpet, or on the town, she always would wave and blow a kiss to my camera.

 

I ran into AnnaLynne in her Oscar's gown with her sister Angel McCord at In-N-Out Burger on Oscar Night, Feb 24, 2019. 

These pics are far from perfect 3-D, because my flash wasn't recycling quickly in the dark, and she's changing her position and facial expression. But it still kinda works.

This is why I call it 4-D photography.
