I still remember this day. She seemed indifferent to
the cameras, but turned back and smiled at me on the escalator, so I
must not have bothered her too badly.

Anne Heche would have turned 56 today.
When I started to review my archive for this 3D project, I was astonished at just how many of the celebrities I had the privilege of photographing on red carpets and elsewhere have passed away.
I find that it's especially transformative to view these photos in 3D because your brain experiences it just as it would be if they were standing right in front of you. It really makes you think about just how fragile we all are and how temporary this all is. I feel especially fortunate that I had the opportunity to capture all of the bouncing photons required to replicate the experience of being at these events in such a real way.
Ten years ago today, May 18th, 2015, I ran into one of the absolute legends of my youth, "Diamond Dave" himself, David Lee Roth at LAX airport in Los Angeles! I couldn't believe he was not only fine with me taking photos, but he actually posed for me, gave me an interview, and even took a selfie with me, which I almost never asked for with most other celebs.
The only downside was that I was so excited that I didn't realize my flash/camera settings were way off and the photos were mostly way over exposed. I tried to fix them as best I could, but damn... at least they came out better than the selfies, lol!
Bill Paxton would have been 70 today. Sadly he passed away in 2017.
I vividly recall how excited I was on this day, sent to downtown Los Angeles to cover the location set of "Big Love". Bill kept riding this bike back and forth from the set to the base camp where his trailer was. He was always one of my favorite character actors, so it was a special thrill to get these shots of him having fun between scenes.
As a paparazzo who cared about trying not to piss off people for whom I had respect, it was always a relief when a celebrity would smile for the camera, rather than try to hide their face.
This has always been one of my favorite pap shots, even more so now that the 3D magic has been revealed.
What's your favorite Bill Paxton role? For me it's a tossup between Hudson in 'Aliens' and Chet in 'Weird Science'.
